NEW: Regenerative Medicine– Treatments with the body’s own substances and stem cells
With increasing age, the self-healing properties of the body gradually decrease. Wounds heal more slowly, wrinkles develop, joints hurt, the skin loses volume and begins to sag. Regenerative medicine promotes the renewal of dysfunctional cells using natural methods – for example by platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cells or the body’s own growth factors and special proteins. Dr Petra Berger is specialised in regenerative medicine. Based on scientific principles, Dr Berger chooses the procedure which is exactly suited to the requirements of each individual patient. Regenerative treatment is possible not only for skin rejuvenation, anti-wrinkle and hair loss treatments, but also for disturbed wound healing (e.g. due to vein problems, accidents, burns or diabetes), and to accelerate wound healing after operations or to regenerate and rejuvenate the female genitals.
Regenerative medicine also achieves good results in the treatment of sports injuries, joint pain and osteoarthritis. Dr Berger’s team includes specialists in orthopaedics and interventional radiology for treatment of such cases. The active CT substances can be placed exactly in the right location of the skin to achieve the maximum effect.
Regenerative Medicine – An overview of possible treatments
Healing instead of repairing is the revolutionary approach in regenerative medicine. Dr Berger offers the following non-invasive treatments using this innovative method:
Vampire Lifting (also known as Dracula Lift or PRP Lift) is a treatment using the patient’s own blood. This method makes use of the body’s own growth factors: a small quantity of blood is taken from a vein and processed according to a special procedure to produce PRP (platelet-rich plasma). The red blood cells are separated from the blood plasma. Then the active substance – in its pure form or mixed with other substances (e.g. hyaluronic acid) - can be injected into back into the body at the required location using very fine needles. The re-injected substance leads to stimulation of cell renewal and regeneration, wound healing and formation of new connective tissue.
This method is suitable for skin rejuvenation but is being increasingly used in the treatment of sports injuries, joint pain and osteoarthritis – in such cases, Dr Petra Berger works in co-operation with leading orthopaedic surgeons and interventional radiologists.
Ultherapy is a gentle, regenerative treatment during which energy is delivered by ultrasound to the deeper layers of the skin. This stimulates the production of new collagen and the youthful elasticity of the skin is restored.
Dr Berger also performs regenerative medicine treatments for the genital area: with the intravaginal Carboxytherapy, carbon dioxide is infused into the vaginal walls. The additional oxygen stimulates the production of collagen in the vaginal wall tissue to improve the elasticity and enhance the moisture within the vagina.
Breast augmentation by fat transfer – as a specialist for regenerative medicine, Dr Berger also performs breast augmentation by this innovative method. Fat is removed from certain parts of the body, purified and injected into the areas of the breasts where volume is missing. The procedure is the perfect alternative to implants and is ideal for women who only want a small increase in breast volume.
The fat required for lipofilling can also be enriched with PRP, fat stem cells or other growth factors to accelerate the integration of the transferred fat. These methods are especially effective for augmentation of the buttocks (Brazilian Butt lift), calves and penis.
Opportunities and Risks
Regenerative medicine involves very little risk as the treatments use the body’s own substances. Small bruises, redness and swelling may occur, but rarely. Otherwise, the treatments are almost painless. As not every method is suitable for every patient, Dr Petra Berger informs and advises you about the possibilities and risks of these treatments in a one-to-one consultation in our practices in Frankfurt, Zürich and Palma de Mallorca.
