Facelift / Neck Lift
Skin and subcutaneous tissues on the face and neck can lose their elasticity and endurance - the force of gravity and weakening muscles can have their toll on the overall appearance. The unpleasant consequences consist of hanging jowls, sagging cheeks, dropping nose tip and lip wrinkles, as well as wrinkles on the neck, and a lax forehead and eyebrows. In a lot of cases, non-invasive measures are not enough.
A facelift can remove excess skin before facial wrinkles deepen. A successful facelift rejuvenates the face by several years and gives a fresh and youthful appearance.
A full facelift that includes the temples, the forehead and the neck is occasionally required. It is usually sufficient to lift the structures, often achieved through eyelid surgery. The uniqueness and facial expressions will not be lost. Surgical access will be done in a very sophisticated way that will leave minimum visible scars.
The course of treatment
In our Zurich and Frankfurt Clinics, Dr. Petra Berger analyzes the changes occurring in your face before each facelift, in order to determine the level of surgical intervention. The so-called Soft Lift, Mini-Lift and Midi lift are procedures aimed at tightening skin. The results are usually not long lasting. However, the extensive facelift presents good, long lasting results. During the consultation, we assess every person’s case in order to choose the best method for them, including Surgery’s details and aftercare
How long does the surgery take and how long is the recovery period?
An extensive facelift is usually performed in semi-conscious sedation; the patient stays in the hospital for one or two days. After ten days to two weeks, most of the swelling and the bruising is disappeared. When a soft lift is carried out, the lower eyelids and temples are tightened through a small incision to restore the natural curves over the cheekbones. The procedure takes about an hour, and the recovery period is usually one week.
